Award-winning TV journalist sells L.A. home for $5.94M

Giselle Fernandez Farrand and her husband, John, sold a nine-bedroom, six-bath home at 620 Rossmore Ave. in Los Angeles's Greater Wilshire for $5.94 million to Carmen and Gregory Alterman on July 25.

The Farrands paid $3.7 million for the property in September 2004.

The 7,456-square-foot house was built in 1924.

Mrs. Farrand is five-time Emmy Award-winning television journalist. She is currently president of her own production company, Skinny Hippo Productions, and co-president of F Squared Productions.

She is a member of the board of trustees of A Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She also serves in the board of Latina magazine, the Latin Grammies, and the Smithsonian National Board for Latino Initiatives.

Mrs. Farrand is a former co-anchor of "KTLA Morning News" on Tribune's KTLA WB5 in Los Angeles, and has served as national and international correspondent for the CBS and NBC networks. In addition, she has co-hosted "This Week in History," a one-hour weekly documentary series on A&E Network's History Channel, where she profiled famous people and events in history.

She also co-hosted "Access Hollywood," an NBC nightly entertainment news magazine, and had her own interview program titled "Cafe Ole."

She published a series of children's books entitled Gigi and the Birthday Ring and in 2004, she completed her first feature-length documentary, titled Our Story, about a boy with cancer coping with his fate in an extraordinary way.

Mrs. Farrand was a competitor on ABC's second season of "Dancing With the Stars," where she partnered with Jonathan Roberts. She was the third contestant to be eliminated.

Mr. Farrand has been chief executive officer of Panavision, Inc., for over 18 years.

Before joining Panavision, he was president of Atari World Wide, the video game and computer manufacturing company.
