311 drummer sells in Bel Air

Musician Chad Sexton sold his four-bedroom, four-bath at 2125 Kress St. in Bel Air for $1.7 million to Ondine Angarola Langford on May 16.

Sexton, 38, is the drummer for the alt-rock band 311. He's one of the founding members of the band, which got its start in Omaha, Neb., and made its mainstream debut with the 1993 album Music. Their follow up, a self-titled album released in 1995, catapulted the band into stardom on the strength of the hit singles "Down" and "All Mixed Up." The album eventually went triple platinum.

More success followed in 1999 with the hit song "Come Original," a mainstay on rock charts and MTV from the album Soundsystem. Their 2001 album, From Chaos included the hit "Amber," and the band enjoyed success again in 2004 with their chart-topping version of The Cure's Lovesong, featured on the soundtrack for the Adam Sandler comedy 50 First Dates.

The group, which records in a studio in North Hollywood dubbed "The Hive," is slated to release their next album in 2009.
