Gary Nicholas Schaar and Regan Crowley Schaar sold their five-bedroom, five-bath home at 6815 Dume Dr. in Malibu to David Rosen and Masa Rosen for $4.2 million on Dec. 31.

The 3,966-square-foot house was built in 2004.

Mr, Schaar is the president and owner of Ostaar Real Estate Services, Inc., in Irvine. He previously spent over a decade with the Shell Oil Co., and earned his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Southern California.

There were 135 home sales in Malibu in 2008, with a median price of $2.495 million.
