Yolande Mavity and John Westergaard bought the five-bedroom, three-bath home at 5111 Carmelynn St. in Torrance from Rose M. Canida for $730,000 on Oct. 22.
The 2,450-square-foot house was built in 1955 in West Torrance.
Mavity has worked as an intern at Cardenas and Associates Physical Therapy in Los Angeles. She has also worked as an events manager at The Broad Foundations, a non-profit group that focuses on improving the K-12 urban education.
She attended California State University-Northridge and UCLA.
Westergaard has served as a project engineer at the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, which focuses on a cost-effective wastewater and solid waste management.
He studied at Loyola Marymount University, California State University-Los Angeles, and UCLA.
According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 678 home sales in Torrance during the past 12 months, with a median price of $527,000.
