Joss Whedon deals for $2.47M in Brentwood

Medium 029d6e369b906dc65d8064de324d8722 Acclaimed television writer Joss Whedon and his wife, Kai Cole, sold their four bedroom, five-bath home at 1000 Amherst Ave. in Brentwood for $2.47 million to Todd Ziman and Lynn Ziman on Nov. 2.

The 4,064-square-foot home was built in 1930.

Whedon, 45, is the award-winning writer and creator of the long-running WB smash "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Inspired by Whedon's script for the1992 supernatural film of the same name, the television incarnation tells the story of a teenage girl (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) fated to ward off and slay vampires in the fictional town of Sunnydale, Calif. Whedon picked up a 2000 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the show, which ran from 1997-2003 and was supported by a loyal following that earned it a No. 3 ranking on TV Guide's Top 25 Cult TV Shows of All Time.

Whedon went on to create the short-loved series "Firefly" (2002-03) as well as the wildly successful "Angel," a Buffy spin-off that ran from 1999 until 2004. He was also the creative force behind the series "Dollhouse," a sci-fi program on Fox with actress Eliza Dushku that lasted one season in 2009.

Whedon's film credits include helping pen the Oscar-nominated screenplay for the Pixar favorite Toy Story and another screenplay job on Alien: Resurrection. He also wrote and directed Serenity, the 2005 film offshoot of his Firefly series, and penned the screenplay for the upcoming 2011 thriller The Cabin in the Woods, starring Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins.

Whedon was born in New York City, and his father was a television screenwriter for "The Electric Company" and "The Golden Girls." Whedon graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 250 home sales in Brentwoodduring the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $1.15 million.
