ABC TV veteran gets $5.48M in Santa Monica

Medium 6da200f3327a61c1dd49ce19cb438682 Stuart James Bloomberg and Mary Alice Farrell sold a six-bedroom, seven-bath at 135 Palisades Ave. in Santa Monica to Alex Kurtzman and Samantha Kurtzman Counter for $5.48 million on Feb. 1.

The 4,099-square-foot house in North of Montana was built in 1925.

Bloomberg is a television veteran with over 20 years of experience with ABC, where he has been responsible for the development of "The Wonder Years," "Roseanne," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Home Improvement," "Grace Under Fire," "NYPD Blue," "My So-Called Life," "The Drew Carey Show," "Spin City," "The Practice" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," among others. He is a member of the KCRW Foundation Board and the executive television council of USC's School of Cinema and Television.

He previously served as co-chairman of the ABC Entertainment Television Group and was chairman of ABC Entertainment. Prior to that, he served as president of Television Creative Development and ABC, Inc., and was creative consultant to all parts of the broadcast day and cable services of ABC Television Network. Earlier on, he served as ABC Entertainment's executive vice president of primetime and vice president of comedy and variety series development. He has served ABC as a director of variety programs, specials and late-night programming development and as a program executive. Prior to his career at ABC, he worked a writer for various network variety specials and series.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and his M.A. degree in cinema from University of Southern California.

Mr. Kurtzman is a producer, writer and director. He was a writer and co-executive producer of "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess," and writer and executive producer of "Jack of All Trades," "Alias," and "The Secret Service." He has also been executive producer of "Hawaii Five-0," and "Locke & Key." Film credits include Eagle Eye in 2008, Transformers in 2007, Mission: Impossible III in 2006 and "Fringe" in 2008.

Ms. Counter is a director, cinematographer and producer. She currently serves as executive vice president of production at The Mother Company, a children's media company.

She was the director, cinematographer and producer for several TV shows, including "One Sung Hero" and "True Life" in 2006 and "Raising Teens" in 2005, among others.

The Kurtzmans previously sold their home at 720 Georgina Ave. in Santa Monica for $2.995 million on Jan. 28.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 465 home sales in Santa Monica during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $809,000.
