Halle Berry asking $5M for Beverly Hills abode

Medium fce5ca0a6d320783e805d41fe7c6b5e9 Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry has listed for sale her two bedroom, two-bath home at 1372 Benedict Canyon Dr. in Beverly Hills for the asking price of $5 million.

Berry paid $2.275 million for the home in Oct. 2001. The 2,274-square-foot home was built in 1948.

Larry Young and Jill Krutchik of Prudential California Realty are the listing agents for the home.

Berry, 43, is one of the leading actresses of her generation and one of the most identifiable leading women in Hollywood. Her film career dates back to the early 1990s but reached new heights in 2002, when she earned the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her turn as a downtrodden mother with a husband on death row in the drama Monster's Ball. She became the first African-American actress to win the award, and she also picked up a Golden Globe nomination for the role.

She has since appeared in blockbusters such as Die Another Day, X2, Catwoman, and X-Men: Last Stand. She also appeared in the drama Things We Lost in the Fire with Benicio Del Toro and will appear in next year's Frankie and Alice, where she plays a woman afflicted with multiple personality disorder.

Berry has also appeared in the films Bulworth, Swordfish, Losing Isaiah and Boomerang, along with a one-year stint on the daytime drama "Knot's Landing" from 1991-92. She is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and was Miss Ohio USA as a teenager.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 150 home sales in Beverly Hills in the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $1.9 million.
