Hugh Hefner selling abode next to Playboy mansion

Medium af329323aabb1654e2a2067a1bb4f446 Legendary publisher Hugh Hefner and Kimberly Hefner have listed for sale a seven-bedroom, six-bath home at 500 S. Mapleton Drive in Westwood for $27.995 million.

The 7,318-square-foot home was built in 1929. The Hefners bought the home in 1998.

Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker is the listing agent for the home.

Mr. Hefner, 82, is one of the most well-known American magazine publishers of the past 50 years and the founder of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. He famously founded Playboy magazine in 1953 with a debut issue that included nude photographs of screen legend Marilyn Monroe, and has since developed the company into one of the world's leading adult entertainment development and distribution companies.

He currently serves as the editor-in-chief and the chief creating officer of the magazine, while his daughter Christie serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises. Mr. Heffner has been married twice, and married Kimberly Conrad in 1989 before eventually separating in 1999.

He is originally from Chicago, and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ms. Hefner (formerly Kimberly Conrad) was named Playmate of the Year in Playboy in 1989. The couple is still legally married.

The home at 500 S. Mapleton Drive is located next door to Hefner's famous Playboy mansion.

There were 262 home sales in Westwood in 2008, with a median price of $800,000.
