Actor Hank Azaria drops $10M in Bel Air

Medium 6fe85613823b29957d17d4059a699926 Actor Hank Azaria bought a seven-bedroom, 12-bath at 657 Perugia Way in Bel Air for $10 million from Scott Sassa and his wife, Ellen, on March 24.

The Sassas paid $6.25 million for the property in Aug. 2004. The 8,434-square-foot home was built in 1932.

Azaria, 45, is a comedic actor with a television and film career that dates back to the late 1980s. Although he's appeared in a slew of feature films, he's best known for his voice talent on "The Simpsons," for which he's been a regular cast member since the show's debut in 1989. Azaria voices the popular characters Police Chief Wiggum, Moe the bartender, Apu, Professor Frink, Dr. Nick Riviera and Comic Book Guy. He's also won three Emmy awards for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for his efforts with the show.

Azaria has also successfully delved into film, turning in memorable roles in the hits Along Came Polly, Mystery Men, Grosse Pointe Blank, Heat, Quiz Show and a Screen Actors Guild-nominated turn as flamboyant housekeeper Agador in the 1996 comedy The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.

He also starred on the 1990s Fox comedy "Herman's Head" and made a lengthy appearance on "Friends." He's slated to appear in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, this year's follow-up to the to 2006 hit Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller and Robin Williams.

Mr. Sassa is the president of Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, the operating group responsible for the media giant's interests in cable television networks such as ESPN, Lifetime, A&E and History. He also oversees the company's television production, newspaper syndication and merchandise licensing. He was hired for the position in Dec. 2008, and also serves as a senior vice president with the Hearst Corporation.

Sassa previously served as the founder and CEO of Uber, a consumer Internet start-up company. He was also president and CEO of social networking site Friendster, and spent seven years as an executive with NBC. He was the president of the network's West Coast operations for three years and also served as president of NBC Entertainment.

There were 69 home sales in Bel Air in 2008, with a median sales price of $2.3 million.
