Gerald Dennis Petievich and John Alan Petievich sold a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 441 Alabama St. in San Gabriel to A Yung Su for $819,000 on June 30.

The 1,880-square-foot house was built in 1941 in Northeast San Gabriel.

Gerald Petievich is a crime novelist who's written such novels as Money Men, To Live and Die in L. A., and his latest, The Sentinel. To Live and Die in L.A. was turned into a 1985 film starring Willem Dafoe and John Turturro, and The Sentinel was remade in 2006 with Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland.

Prior to writing full time, he was an Army counterspy and a U.S. Secret Service agent. He also previously attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey and later served in Germany as a U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent.

There were 211 home sales in San Gabriel in 2008, with median sales price of $499,500.
