MLB All-Star, Babe Dahlgren, owned this house when he passed away in 1996. He replaced Hall of Fame Yankee legend Lou Gehrig in the lineup on May 2, 1939. When the physically stricken Gehrig benched himself on that day, it snapped his MLB record streak of 2,130 consecutive games played. The record stood for nearly 60 years. A superior fielder, Dahlgren compiled a .261 batting average during an 11-year career. He was a National League All-Star in 1943 with the Philadelphia Phillies.
