Equity exec spends $4.2M in Manhattan Beach

David McGovern and Corina McGovern bought a four-bedroom, three-bath home at 640 Ninth St. in Manhattan Beach from Steven Vincent Salem for $4.2 million on March 13.

The 2,220-square-foot house was built in 1939.

Mr. McGovern is the founder and managing director of Marlin Equity Partners a private equity firm in El Segundo, established in 2005. His expertise is focused on the mergers and acquisitions process, corporate strategy, turnarounds and acquisition integration.

Prior to Marlin Equity, he served as a managing director at Gores Technology Group, an equity firm that acquires substantial or controlling interests in businesses. He was a senior investment banker at CIBC World Markets. He was also an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He has held key positions in companies such as Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, Verifone, The Learning Co. and Aprisma Management Technologies.

He earned his bachelor's in finance from Louisiana State University and his J.D. from Georgetown University.
