Novelist buys songwriter's former home in Hancock Park

Medium dc62f9c81b85ae2781af90a2f63f308b Francesca B. Delbanco and her husband, Nicholas A. Stoller, bought a seven-bedroom, seven-bath home at 500 S. Hudson Ave. in Hancock Park from Peter and Karyn Lovegrove Leak for $6.8 million on Feb. 20.

Mr. Leak bought the property for $4.85 million on April 2005. The 8,819-square-foot house was built in 1925.

Ms. Delblanco is novelist, whose first novel, Ask Me Anything, was published in 2004. She is also a freelance writer for a variety of magazines.

She graduated from Harvard University and received a M.F.A. from the University of Michigan, where she later taught. She grew up in Ann Harbor, Mich., and lived in New York after graduating from Harvard. In NYC, she worked at Seventeen magazine.

She moved to LA in May 2004 and married Mr. Stoller in Sept. 2005.

The house was previously owned by Grammy-winning record producer and songwriter, Walter Afanasieff, who is best known for his work with Mariah Carey. Afanasieff bought the property in 2002.

There were 377 home sales in Greater Mid-Wilshire/Hancock Park in 2008, with median sales price of $850,000.
