Roy Orbison's widow pockets $2.6M on Hollywood abode

Barbara A. Orbison sold a four-bedroom, three-bath home at 9255 Swallow Dr. in Hollywood to Ben Tao for $2.6 million on May 20.

Ms. Orbison bought the property for $2.546 million in June 2004. The 2,679-square-foot house was built in 1961.

Ms. Orbison is the widow of the late rock icon Roy Orbison. The two met in 1968 while he was touring England, and they married a year later. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 52 after a career that included 22 hits in the Top 40 and a 1987 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ms. Orbison runs her own publishing company in Nashville, Tenn.

There were 534 home sales in Hollywood in 2008, with median sales price of $765,000.
