Mel Gibson has listed for sale a nine-bedroom, 8.5-bath home at 23333 Palm Canyon Lane in Malibu for $14.5 million.

The home in the Las Flores neighborhood was built in 1980. Christopher Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker is the listing agent for the home.

Gibson is an actor whose films have grossed more than $2 billion in the United States. He first gained attention due to his starring role in the 1979 action film Mad Max. He also starred in all four Lethal Weapon movies, each of which were top 10 grossing movies during the years they were released.

In 1995, he directed, produced and starred in Braveheart, a film that would go on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Later, he directed, produced, co-wrote and self-funded the 2004 movie The Passion of the Christ, which earned more than $600 million worldwide.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 114 home sales in Malibu during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $2 million.
